Tuesday 12th September 2022
Classwork: Today we talked about the subjects of verbs, identifying them in our work and learning how to translate them fluently through this presentation. We then completed a worksheet on these.
Wednesday 13th September 2022
Classwork: Today's lesson was a particularly interactive lesson! We had a lesson where we did not write anything, but discussed answers in 'think, pair, share' activities, and then as a whole class, consolidating our knowledge of the present tense. Click here for the lesson notes.

Tuesday 20th September 2022
Classwork: We had some members of our class out today at the U13 football tournament, so we finished our work on Roman numerals by completing our sudoku and vocabulary wordsearches.
Wednesday 21st September 2022
Today we recapped the subjects of verbs and introduced the objects of verbs. We learnt the two terms 'nominative' and 'accusative'. Click here for the lesson notes.

Tuesday 27th September 2022
Classwork: today we developed our understanding of nominative and accusative forms of nouns through consolidating our learning - we recognised the different forms, formed them and translated them as part of sentences. Click here for the class notes.

Week 6
Tuesday 4th & Wednesday 5th October 2022
In these lessons we developed the fluency of our translation skills by practising our vocabulary and knowledge of nominative and accusative nouns, both singular and plural. We had to think carefully about verb endings, too. Click here for the lesson notes across both lessons.
Week 7
Tuesday 11th October
Today we were introduced to the concept of 'declensions' - nouns in groups based upon their endings through these activities. We identified nouns we already know which belong to the first declension, and then met nouns which belong to the second declension.
Wednesday 12th October 2022
Today our lesson we synthesised our learning, bringing together our knowledge of noun case endings (nominatives and accusatives) and verb endings (present tense) to translate three extended paragraphs of Latin! What a great half term's progress we have made!

Week 9
Tuesday 1st November
Our lesson today introduced the irregular verb 'to be'. We discussed why this verb is irregular, and how it is different to the pattern of regular verbs. We then completed a series of activities translating the verb, building on our knowledge from recognising it in exercise 1, to translating it as part of a Latin sentence in exercise 2, to forming it from English to Latin in exercise 3.

Today we were introduced to five new important words which help our sentences to become more developed and complex. We then practised sentences using these words.

In Tuesday's lesson we started some 'challenge' sentences using the genitive case. These were finished on Wednesday and then we completed some Latin quiz puzzles to round of an excellent half term of Latin learning! Well done everyone! |

Tuesday 25th & Wednesday 26th April 2023
Lessons this week are to finish off the translation of the complex sentences from last week, and to use green pens in books to improve and make corrections. Look at the comments Ms Steph has written and use your notes to increase the accuracy of your translations. |
Tuesday 2nd May 2023
Today we continue to make improvements and amendments to our translation work using green pen. Each student spends time with Ms Steph in the lesson to discuss their progress and have their work live-marked and then has the opportunity to make their corrections and make amendments. Due to the Reward Lunch on Wednesday 3rd May there was no formal Latin lesson, and students who were not attending the reward lunch were able to finish their incomplete work. |

Tuesday's lesson introduced the ablative case of the 1st declension. On Wednesday we continued to practice the new grammar. Homework is to finish all corrections and incomplete work in books leading into next week in preparation for revision for exams. |
